Visit Your Doctor Regularly

You have to visit the doctor on a regular basis!  That is what my father has started drumming into my head the past few years.  Now that the dreaded forties are suddenly a reality, all of a sudden those aches and pains that were just a little part of life can take on sinister proportions.

Guys think things like fatigue are just a part of life and that they should ‘man up’ and deal with it.  Unfortunately, fatigue is also a prostate cancer symptom.  Yes, fatigue by itself can seem benign but if ‘manning up’ isn’t helping to make you feel better then it just might be worthwhile to visit the doctor to see what he or she has to say.

Unfortunately, for most men the doctor’s office is not an environment they feel comfortable in.  Most decor is geared to women as are the magazines.  However, men will have to get over this and think of the bigger picture.  If they don’t get in to the doctor’s office for a checkup on a regular basis then all the good stuff that they enjoy like their families, fun vacations, watching football on Sundays etcetera will be at risk.

Things can change very suddenly.  One day you can be feeling like you are on top of the world then the next you can be stuck with a prostate cancer prognosis that doesn’t look that great.  All because of an obstinacy that should not be a part of anyone’s makeup when it comes to health.  Sure some tests might seem embarrassing and maybe a little painful.  However, when weighed against the alternative it shouldn’t be that big a worry.

Disclaimer: Make sure to visit your physician regularly and listen to their advice as they know you best.
