combing hair, exercise for cellulite, back muscles

combing hair

Very often I am receiving emails from people who have tried each and everything to lower their up to 210/140 high blood pressure. They are using medicines for about a decade and also tried all the supplements that are known to humans.

These people often tells me that their father, mother, grandparents and their aunts, uncles, did suffer from soaring blood pressure. So, it might be in their genes, correct?

Time and again, their question is very much the same….

“Is this program really going to help me in this critical condition?”

I have decided to answer this question in this blog, in view of the fact that it is so common.

The reasons for hypertension may be bad modern day diets or genetic factors. But emotions and thinking pattern plays a bigger part.

exercise for cellulite

Cellulite can be on the top list of a person’s worst nightmare. For some people, it may seem as unsightly as a large scar. It can ruin your chances of ever wearing those pair of sexy board shorts or that cute bikini. Fortunately, there is a chance that you can help relieve your cellulite condition with a little exercise for cellulite.

The Truth About Cellulite

Before rushing off to find the best exercise for cellulite, it is first best to know that cellulite can affect women of all shapes and sizes. Even skinny people and athletes can have some cellulite in their bodies. If you don’t think you have cellulite, try pinching a couple of inches of your thigh. The rippling portion is actually a sign that you do have it and you probably need exercise for cellulite.

However, don’t get too overexcited. Cellulite is very difficult to get rid of. For a lot of people, exercise is simply not enough. For others, it may take a whole lot of exercising before they can make a dent on their cellulite condition. If you are interested in exercise for cellulite, you should have realistic expectations and a great deal of perseverance.

back muscles

If you have been training, here’s a short list of bodybuilding fiction.

1. The 12 Rep rule

Your average training regimens feature twelve repetitions, the theory being being that this is somehow the “magic number” of repetitions for building muscle. The truth be told, this does not adequately work the muscles enough to build mass.

The standard prescription of eight to 12 repetitions provides a balance but by just using that program all of the time, you do not generate the greater tension levels that is provided by the heavier weights and lesser reps, and the longer tension achieved with lighter weights and more repetitions.

Hints and Tips on Big Cat Photography Part One

Introduction

The aim of this guide is to give you some top tips for getting great pictures. Big cats have a personality all of their own and each breed is quite different. This will affect how you photograph each species of cat. For instance some are quick and move rapidly, others will sit and take a more leisurely approach. This article is set out into sections so you can dip into the bits most relevant to you.

So what do we mean by Big Cats, lets start with the rarest cats in the world, The Russian Amur Leopard, around 150 in captivity and only 30 in the wild, then we have the Snow Leopard, now only found in the inaccessible mountains in Pakistan. On the Tiger front you have the Sumatran Tiger, then the Amur Tiger as it now know but better known as the Siberian Tiger. Then there are Lynx, Lion, Cheetah, Serval and Puma also known as the Mountain Lion or Cougar - they are all the same cat.

First of all don’t be confused into thinking that you need a top of the range film or digital SLR camera and lenses to get great pictures. You don’t. Both compact and the intermediate bridge cameras are more than adequate of capturing great images. Many photographers that have come on Big Cat Photo Experience Day have started with a compact camera and found that they can get amazing images. They have returned and some have even found that they got so much more from photography than they ever thought they could. Others just come and enjoy the close contact with such magical animals.

This guide is based upon many years as a professional photographer capturing some of the rarest cats on the planet, all kept within a private collection for breeding purposes with the aim that they are returned to the wild, so long as the human race hasn’t ruined the original habitat. For the Sumatran Tiger, that I fear is a rare hope, but with new cubs born late 2008 there is a glimmer of hope.

Compacts and Bridge Cameras

The real advantage of these cameras is their size. Being small and compact they fit through the wire of the cage so that’s one less thing to worry about. All you do need to do is watch what the cats are doing so they don’t take your camera off you! And trust me if they get hold of it they will win - no negotiation!

Captive animals are quite nosey so you will find they get too close. Key settings would be either close up / macro or a sports mode if you are using pre-set shooting modes. More advanced cameras have Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Full Manual. If you are more comfortable with these settings then please read the sections underFilm and Digital SLRs as the same rules apply.

One main problem of these cameras is what is called “shutter lag”. This is the time the camera takes to fire the shutter and capture the image after you press the shutter button. On static subjects this won’t be so much of a problem, but on fast moving or erratic moving subjects this is where this will be noticed. You aim at the head and the camera takes a picture of the tail!

ISO - Film Speed or Sensor Sensitivity

The speed of your film or sensor sensitivity as it’s really called on a DSLR will affect the camera settings in a given light. A normal sunny day will let you shoot on ISO 100 or 200, being the base setting of your camera depending upon the make of camera or film you’re using. With a DSLR you have the ability to change your ISO or sensor sensitivity as the light changes, so you can go up and down from 100 to 200 or 400 (or more) as the light changes. With film you are fixed per roll. OK you can “bump it” up or down but only if your film developer knows what they are doing, automated developing just won’t hack it and will leave you with a ruined roll of film. As a commercial photographer I shoot digital and enjoy it - when all the technology works of course!

Using a second body is an option if you can afford it as it gives you another lens to shoot from or another roll of film different from the first body. Lenses or course are interchangeable.

With speed or sensitivity comes a compromise - noticeable pixels . The higher the ISO the more noise or grain there will be. But, and a big but, under exposure will create more noise than high ISO - so make sure the shot is exposed correctly. Being a commercial photographer amongst other things, I shoot using Nikon cameras and with these I have to shoot slightly over exposed to get the shot right - Nikon metering seems to be slightly on the safe side in my experience.

White Balance

This is not an easy function to explain but it comes down to the colour of light. What I hear you say, but all light looks the same to me, yes it will, the human eye and brain is very clever, it shows you a white subject as white in any light so you can’t actually see what your camera sees.

Until that is you take a picture indoors, ever had a picture on a digital or film camera come out orange? Light is measured as a temperature similar to that of heating a metal rod in a flame. The colour moves from orange to white and finally blue. Now this isn’t measured in degrees C or F but in the wider scientific range called Kelvin. Digital cameras use this Kelvin number to determine the colour of light.

For example Orange is at the warmer end or 3400K the same as a household bulb with a tungsten filament, also known as incandescent- day light and studio flash is around 5200K to 5600K and fluorescent light is a real nightmare depending upon the type of tube and colour temperatures vary from 2700K up to 7200K - so pretty much the whole spectrum.
Tip - on a dull grey day use the pre set white balance of Flash - it gives a slightly warmer shot.

Tip - avoid Auto white balance for two reasons. While it might be fairly accurate light is not a fixed entity it changes all the time and so too will your cameras setting for White Balance when on Auto. Secondly if you then go on and edit your images you have the potential for having to manually correct each image if you’re not happy with the setting. And on a Big Cat Day guests regularly shoot 400 to 600 images - now that’s a lot of time chained to your computer.

Tip - pick a pre-set value, even if its wrong, some cameras allow fine tuning warmer or cooler. If then you want to edit the images at least you can batch process all the images in one go as the White Balance value will be the same - so too will be the adjustment. Just shoot RAW, then you can correct it, Jpeg gives you less control.

Tip - try taking a custom white balance measurement if your camera has this function.

Tip - remember a Snow leopard is Grey and White - it should not be cream.

Film and Digital SLRs

Camera bodies vary in design and my view is that megapixels aren’t the be all and end all of quality images. As an example a 6 mega pixel camera will get a great image, in fact many press photographers still use a high quality, robust 4 mega pixel digital camera body. Why, because other functions are come into play.

Whereas the norm for many companies is now, at the time of writing this Big Cats guide, is to offer 10 - 12 mega pixel camera bodies, other key features come into play.

Autofocus - General

AF-S , AF-C or Manual, Single point, Multipoint Dynamic or Closest Subject? AF-S will give you a setting that shoots only when the subject is in focus. AF-C gives you a continuous mode where by the AF systems tracks the subject adjusting focus all the time you have the shutter release pressed part way down and the focus point on the moving subject. This is good for fast / moving subjects, the shutter will however fire even if the shot is not in focus. 3D tracking found on Nikon cameras is good for some subjects as it tries to work out where the subject will be if it leaves the focus area or frame - try it and see how you get on, you may find you come back to a dynamic - movable - focus point chosen by the photographer - you!

Manual focus gives you more control but chasing a moving subject is harder and takes time to practice.

Metering

Spot, centre weighted or matrix or average? The main problem with Matrix is that it takes an average setting across the whole frame so you can end up with a dark image especially if you catch some sky in the frame. This being brighter, normally, makes the camera close down the settings, leading to an under exposed subject.

For improved results with cats I find centre weighted works best as the camera metres from the centre of the frame and this is normally where the subject matter will be.

Spot metering would be best used for a close head shot where the cat is stationary being sat or lying down, as you’d find with the Lions in the afternoon after they are fed.

Part two continues with more settings and equipment discussions as well as common mistakes.

5 Reasons fire is such a danger at work

Do you currently own a business that is going well? Good enough that you think nothing could go wrong? Well, think again. The next question you should face is related to the safety and preventive measures or guidelines that you are implementing in your workplace. Have you secured a fire safety manual for your business? Do you conduct fire risk assessment training for your employees? Have you thought about getting the service of a professional and credible fire consultant?

Being the employer, you must accept the fact that you are the person who is held most responsible for the safety and comfort of all that is included in your business. It is highly essential that you start with educating your workers on the causes and consequences of the incidence of fire. You can begin by releasing memorandums and composing manuals to heighten their awareness and henceforth serve as their guide towards prevention. Part of this, is to challenge there normal ways of thinking to fix in there minds why fire is such a danger in the workplace.

First and foremost is to let them know how much trauma fire can cause them, and even take their lives. Each year, more and more deaths are occurring due to fire incidences. And most of these were just simply caused by leaving the stove open or having an electrical fault. Emphasize that once fire happens, it’s not easy to put it out and that fire safety standards should be learned to make them able to apply appropriately and with effect. Second, is that it could cost the business a huge amount of money on repair, maintenance, etc. Such might consequently affect other financial matters including their salaries. Third, is that fire can greatly ruin the physical aesthetics of the building and the other functionalities that come along with it. This would greatly affect the daily routine and even cause delay in the productivity and performance level of each. Fourth, it could take away not just your business in a jiffy, but also endanger their jobs and there lives. And lastly, the incidence of fire can lower the credibility of the business.

To apply fire risk assessment training can be as easy as ABC. You can decide to do it on an in-house basis or get a well trained fire assessor to walk you through the whole process. Considering the option of getting the help of a fire assessor can be more convenient though since the person would be the one doing all the fire assessment for you. However, this might also cost you a considerable amount of money if you have to keep getting the assessor back in. If you want a more cost effective solution, then you can conduct your own fire safety assessment with the help of a fire expert and coordinate with your staff. Attend to this need together and work as one united team. Come up with your own prevention plan that would deal for all types of emergencies. Another thing you can do is keep and make a formal manual which all employees can refer to or use dedicated fire risk assessment software in conjunction with a fire assesor. This means you can invite over a fire professional or expert to check on the manual you came up with and examine all the equipment in your workplace.

As an employer, make it your priority to not just preserve your business and the physical workplace but also to save and preserve lives of your workers.

Plyometric Exercises - What is Plyometric Exercise?

Plyometric exercise is a type of exercise that has a goal of stretching muscles to their limit and then quickly contracting them. Plyometric exercises help make your movements more forceful and powerful. They are mostly used by athletes to help increase their jump distance or sprinting speed. By using plyometrics you can improve your agility and increase the power in your muscles.

By stretching the muscles, you are filling them with potential for movement. Once you start the next set of motion, your movement will be powered by your muscle’s full potential. For example, just before shooting a basket, a basketball player will dip slightly with their needs to give their jump the full force of their muscles. It produces a powerful movement upwards.

Plyometric drills are exercises that help improve the stretch-shortening cycle. When you improve this cycle, you can improve the power of your movements. The movements are done in many repetitions and they normally mimic the movements of the sport. The following exercises are good for vertical jumping.

Squat jumps: Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Flex your arms and hold them at a 90-degree angle. Lower your stance so that your knees are bent and your thighs are equal to the ground. Jump upwards and bring your hands up over your head. It’s important to quickly move from the neutral position to the squatting position and from the squatting position to the jump. It should be one smooth movement. Rest for two seconds and repeat.

Jump to Box: Get a solid box that is no higher than your knees. Stand facing the box with your feet slightly wider than your hips. Lower your body into a semi-squat. Immediately from this squat position, jump onto the box. Step gently back down and then repeat the jump. Rest for two seconds and repeat.

There are many fitness blogs and other websites out there that teach plyometric exercises. Just be optimistic with your workout routine and never give up. Plyometric exercise can and will provide excellent results!

A Gift Every Kid Should Receive At Some Point

Are you looking for a good gift idea for your grandchild or grandchildren? Consider giving a watch. Watches are a perfect gift idea because they are educational and a lot of fun for the kid receiving it.

Often people recall the wrist watches they owned as children, particularly their very first watch. It’s a item that feels somewhat adult, but it’s styled in a manner that will directly appeal to little ones tastes and interests.

For the younger children watches provide a fun and direct opportunity for them to study how to tell time. The majority are particularly designed to help make learning less complicated with things like labeling on the hour and minute hands or dividing the watch face into sections. Plus they come in so many creative designs and colors it’s no problem finding one that matches each child’s personality. For younger kids you might want to look at Disney watches.

As kids become older they will usually begin to favor a watch that seems a bit more adult and possibly one that has more functions. Some may continue to like the character-based watches, but others will start to have greater interest in the sporty or adult looking watches. That will vary depending on the child’s personality. Before you start shopping for girls or boys watches you will want to be prepared and understand a little about the kid receiving it.

If you take the time to get a watch that fits the child’s personality it can be a huge hit, maybe even the favorite gift that they can’t wait to show off to their friends. You will know you have purchased the right one when you observe the large grin on their happy face.

The Evolution of Swimwear

Introduction

Swimwear is the term used for garments designated for swimming and beach wear. It has gradually changed over the years from the bulky garments used to completely cover the body into the selection of brief pieces of fabric arranged to expose as much as possible of the body.

Finding the right sort of swimwear is not always that easy particularly if you do not have a large budget. There is an enormous variety of body sizes and shapes for both men and women and correspondingly there are an enormous variety of outfits ranging from the very cheap to the very expensive.

Fashion Dictates

If it was just a case of having a bathing costume to wear when going swimming and replacing it when it had worn out, life would be relatively easy. But there is the matter of fashion. Every year the designers come up with a different style so that the previous year’s model suddenly looks old fashioned and we feel compelled to buy a new one. As purchasers we are confronted with one piece swimsuits, two piece swimwear, some with long tops, some with skimpy tops, high leg cut, high waist cut, different cup sizes, in a variety of fabrics, colours, patterns, two tone and so on. The choice is endless.

History of Swimwear

The earliest recorded bathing costume was in 350 BC in Greece which was a toga-like garment for bathing. During the 18th century people visited spa resorts for their health where they spent time in the spa waters. Naturally they needed something proper to wear, other than their day clothes, when they were engaged in public bathing. Later the recreation of beach bathing demanded a specially made outfit to maintain decorum and decency, so the bathing suit was developed.

Initially the swimwear was rather like ordinary daywear, and the dresses worn by the women sometimes had lead weights sewn into the hems to prevent the skirts from floating up. As the expansion of the railways enabled the masses to spend time at the seaside a more practical type of outfit was required. By the early 1900’s the swimsuit consisted of bloomers with black stocking and shoes, and the top was like a jacket belted at the waist. Swimming was considered suitable for men, while women were assisted into the water for a short dip.

Over the century attitudes changed and swimming became an Olympic sport for both men and women. Gradually the swimming costume changed to adopt short capped sleeves and more ankle was exposed beneath the bloomers. As women became more active in the water the swimming costume needed to be less cumbersome so the neckline was lowered and the tops became sleeveless. Eventually the Princess cut was introduced which consisted of the trousers attached to a blouse in one piece.

In 1909 Annette Kellerman, the Australian swimmer, film star and author, helped to define the modern ladies swimwear style on the day she wore a loose one piece suit and was arrested for indecency,by 1910 “Annette Kellermans” became the new accepted ladies swimwear.

From then on the swimsuits became lighter and briefer. By the 1920’s the women wore figure hugging tank suits made from wool Jersey and by 1928 they had evolved into the swimsuit we would recognise today. In the 1930’s cotton was introduced for bathing suits sometimes with little overskirts to hide bulky thighs, but film stars wore fashionable figure hugging costumes with higher cut legs sealing the fate of the fashionable swimwear.

The corset manufacturers in the 1940’s saw that women with less than perfect figures needed swimsuits to hide or control the bulges, so seeing a gap in the market they produced costumes which had control panels for the tummy and bra cups and bones to give support to the bust. Using the methods applied in corset making they introduced the stretch factor to bathing costumes so that they were more flattering than ever before.

With the development of modern fabrics, Nylon and Lycra became the fabric of choice for swimwear because of their stretch properties. This meant that the costume could be pulled on without openings or fastenings and gave a firmer cleaner line to the figure. Women continued to wear all in one swimsuits until the 1950’s when the bikini became popular.

Leisure Swimming or Sunbathing

Although certain garments are called swimwear, in fact some never get near the water. They are solely for sunbathing which usually means they are as small as possible, just barely covering the essential bits so that the skin gets maximum exposure to the sun and such a design would be classed as a bikini.

Two Piece or Bikinis

Over two thousand years ago early mosaics and pottery from Greece depict what in fact looks like an early version of a bikini. These garments were used by women performers and acrobats and were in two pieces to cover the breasts and the lower part of the body, much like the current style of Bandeau tops. Modern day runners and athletes wear something very similar when competing. Paula Radcliffe when running the Marathon last year, wore a garment almost identical to those worn thousands of years ago!!

The bikini resembles women’s underwear and has been described as a scanty two piece bathing suit. The lower part may be two small triangles attached together with a string tie at either side, or even a thong. The upper part may also be two small triangles attached together with a string tie but arranged in a slightly different order. Louis Reard patented the new version of the bikini in 1946; his design was similar to the skimpy string 1970’s bikini and it shocked the world when it appeared on French beaches in 1947.

The very first bikini shown in the cinema was in the Bond film Dr No when Ursula Andress rises out of the sea in a white bikini. This created the iconic Bond girl and made her world famous. When being interviewed on television recently she revealed that the bikini had been constructed out of a bra covered with the fabric to give her the required lift of the bosom. This actual bikini sold at auction for £35,000 in 2001.

The size of swimwear bikinis gradually got smaller and smaller as the craze for tanning more and more of the body increased.

Ultimately the top part of the bikini was abandoned altogether when topless sunbathing became the norm in some countries and the bottom was just a G-string or thong also called a Tanga. Oliver Saillard the fashion journalist states that the bikini is the most popular female beachwear in the world, and that the emancipation of swimwear is linked to the emancipation of women.

In the 1950’s there was a popular song entitled ‘In My little Itsy Bitsy Yellow Polka Dot Bikini’ that indicated the acceptance of the new style of swimwear. I remember my cousin persuading me to try on a bikini and I felt very exposed but she said how incredible I looked in it because I was so slim.

Although the bikini is now an acceptable garment whatever the size, the one piece swimsuit is still the best for serious swimmers. Some businesses are well known for their skill at making swimwear and make all the garments for the Olympic team and other swimming competitions. Now swimwear is available in a wide range of bust sizes and the more expensive makes have control panels for the stomach combined with clever styling to create a good silhouette. Combined with a matching sarong, older ladies may feel more comfortable when walking around the beach area.

Helen Mirren was photographed on holiday in her substantial bikini last summer with the caption commenting on how good she looked for her age and that particular bikini was snapped up from the stores within days. Perhaps the customers believed that they could look as good as Helen Mirren in a bikini if they had the same one.

Leg Line

Some two piece bathing suits are cut so that the waist is high and the related leg line is also cut high. I believe the aim is to make the wearer look as though her legs are much longer than they are. However if you have less than the perfect shape for this style it can emphasise large hips so it’s not for all women.

Another fashion mode is the tankini where the bottoms look like little shorts and shows the lower curve of the bottom, which is fine if you are young with a nice pert bottom.

An exciting development in swimwear clothing is the tankini such as those available from Ted Baker, Fantasie, Moontide, Freya and Lisa Ho who even produce an underwired design.

The classic bikini style is still as popular as ever though, with the cut of the leg line following the natural crease between the leg and the hip.

The most recent development in fabric is the ‘tan through’ swimwear. This allows the body to tan without exposing the body to the world. Some commentators on this style point to the effects of too much sun on the body and the occurrences of skin cancer of which the evidence indicates an alarming increase. However, the counter argument to that is if you are wearing a bikini anyway then the extra exposure to the sun through the top and bottom garments is hardly going to make much difference.

Conclusion

Swimwear is a term used these days to cover all types of beach wear and swimming gear. It is a bit of a misnomer in that many outfits never see the water and are not used for swimming. However there is a huge range of garments available for the purchaser of different styles, sizes and fabrics. The one commonality of course is that everyone wants to look good once they don these garments. The main key to that is to make sure your new swimwear is the right fit and cut, for your body size and shape.

The importance of being properly measured for your swimwear is often overlooked but it is as important as being properly measured for your bra or other underwear, particularly if you do indeed intend to actually swim in your new swimwear! By wearing the right size and style swimwear for your body, will ensure you are really comfortable in it on the beach, in the pool or wherever else you choose to wear it.

Affiliate programs and co registration, do they work together?

Co registration is when your newsletter sign up details is offered to customers when they sign upto a simular list. It has been an reserved technique used by a few Internet marketers for years and has only come into the main stream over the past year or so. Due to the power that co reg has to build on demand email lists of thousands within a short time, those few internet marketers using it did not what co reg to go public.

So how do co reg companies work? Well co reg companies will have access to hundreds if not thousands of websites that they can use to build your list. When a co reg campaign is set up the co reg company will match the type of compaign to the relevant website in their network and when someone signs up to one of those sites they are offered the opportunity to join your list also.

In my opinion co registration is the best internet marketing method around for getting traffic. When you are looking for a co reg broker make sure you find out the following before parting with any money:

  • Are the leads posted to an auto-responder in real time?
  • Are the leads targeted?
  • Does the company offer an incentive to people for signing up?
  • Are the opt in boxes pre-checked?
  • Do they offer a cancellation period?

The last point is very important as you don’t want to have to pay for thousands of leads that you don’t need or want. Make sure that you can cancel your order when you’ve reached your marketing budget limit. Another reason to make sure you can cancel is that some brokers will ask for an insertion order of $5000 and if you can’t cancel you’ll find yourself getting burnt. When contacting brokers make sure you find these details out and if you are asked for an full upfront payment avoid them.

Selling Tips From A Real Estate Pro - Get Maxium Value For Your Home

Before each showing of your home to potential buyers, it is important to make a good first impression. Be sure your front entry has a sparkling door knocker and door knobs, and that front door and porch are clean and free of clutter.

Once inside your home should smell inviting so bake the quick and easy break and bake cookies or brownies, or put a drop of vanilla on the top of a light bulb for a welcome aroma. You can make the home seem more inviting by installing higher wattage light bulbs and opening all the window treatments to let the light flood your home.

Buyers want to visualize themselves and their lifestyle in their new home, so to make your house more neutral, please distance yourself emotionally. This means putting away all family photos, awards, etc that are specific to your family. Also removing excess clutter by renting a storage unit or having a garage sale will make your home appear larger and more inviting.

You may want to host an open house while you still have furniture in your home, so buyers can visualize furniture placement with the layout and space available. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to disclose any past or potential issues that may effect the value and continued desirability of your advertised property. Real estate law varies from state to state, and some require you to reveal everything from a leak in the faucet to a neighbor who may be a nuisance. Be sure you are aware of the disclosure laws for your area.

As an additional incentive to attract an offer on your home, you might consider offering a one-year warranty to the new buyer. This often gives them the peace of mind to proceed with buying your home. When a potential buyer starts looking for a property, they look online first. A recent survey shows that 82% start with an internet search, due to the comfort and convenience. Only 12 % find the home of their dreams in a newspaper ad. It is important to let people know your home is for sale!

Many buyers prefer a video tour or virtual tour to eliminate the homes that won’t fit their needs, and to save their valuable time. Don’t appear too anxious or a potential buyer may think they can get a steal! Did you know surveys taken by the National Association of Realtors prove that most buyers seek out a for sale by owner when they are looking for a bargain, and automatically offer 10 percent under the seller’s asking price? Don’t offer too much information about your needs and plans- a buyer could use that information to justify a low offer.

A good marketing plan is essential to selling your home. Find a dedicated professional in Real Estate that knows how to stage your home to sell. Better agents offer advice on furniture placement and redesign of your home to maximize the chances of a quick and profitable sale. With each inquiry on your home, your chance of selling it soon increases.
